A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Wheeling Catholic Elementary School! We are the home of terrific families, students, faculty, staff, and are known as the Wheeling Cougars! We are fortunate to have two Church communities – the Cathedral of St. Joseph and St. Alphonsus – the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston – the Department of Catholic Schools Office – the local community, and families who strongly support our school.

We are also fortunate to have employees who care a great deal for our children. Without exception, our teaching staff and service personnel extend their services above and beyond requirements in order to insure our students' safety and success.

The contributions of community members, parents, students, professional staff, service personnel, and administrators are essential to the education of Wheeling Catholic’s youth. Catholic Education and in particular Wheeling Catholic’s tradition of educational excellence and the maintenance of a caring respectful environment will continue throughout this 21st Century. Wheeling Catholic has a reputation for serving diversity by educating all students with the underlying philosophy of prescriptive teaching and collaborative support – all rooted in the Catholic Faith Traditions.

Upon entrance into Wheeling Catholic’s pre-school program until 8^th grade graduation from Wheeling Catholic, students receive the Gospel message that all members of our learning community are highly valued and respected. Our future challenges are many, but we are willing to accept the responsibility. We model a learning community that will continue to cast its energies forward and commit to providing a safe, nurturing, challenging educational environment built upon Gospel values that will guide our young people into their futures. We look to technology to extend and enrich our vision beyond our boundaries.
